At River Rapids Pet Hospital + Clinic we understand that oral pain greatly affects the quality of life for your pet and that pets are very good at hiding this pain from us. This starts with a comprehensive physical examination of the mouth during your pet's visit with the doctor. If a dental cleaning is determined to be necessary, a comprehensive examination of your pet's teeth and mouth will be performed while under anesthesia. Dental X-rays (just like at your dentist) help determine the health of tooth roots and other structures in the mouth.

Dental disease is the most common disease in dogs and cats. More than 50% of cats and 85% of dogs over the age of 3 have dental problems that require professional treatment. The consequences of leaving dental disease untreated include:
